    Buy from Police Auto Auctions

The time has come. The family is nagging you for that new car. However, finances are limited and we know money is not growing on trees. This is not a big problem and shouldn’t concern you. In this economy, most people are trying to save as much as they can on their purchases

We’ve all heard of the savings one can make at a police auto auction, but the question remains: Are they really as lucrative as many folks make them out to be.
You can get a better idea on the value of these auction by looking at the structure the auctions and origin & types of auto available at police auctions. The cars come from being confiscated from criminals or involvement in illegal activities. Simply put, the police does not wish to get the absolute highest possible prices for these cars like banking and other financial institutions wish to. For prospective buyers this is heaven. The reason is because you are dealing with someone selling a product and doesn’t necessary want a high, market related price.

So you are sold on the idea of buying cars at police auctions. So what should you do next?

The easiest thing you can do is to get in touch with your local police station. The possibility is of course always there that the first person you contact won’t have a aclue how to direct or assist you. If lady luck is on your side, you may actually be pointed in the right direction straight away and transferred to the relevant finance department. Get the info from them, and attend the first upcoming auction – dead easy.

Most people also ‘catch wind’ of these auctions by reading newspapers, online government websites and other advertising mediums.

Now that you know the auction dates, really only about fifteen to 20% of your work is done. After having done this you shoul obtain a brochure which will list all the cars that will be sold by the police department. You can normally get this from the auctioneer. This brochure will enable you to draw up a list of autos that grabs your interest.

Using this list, start to do the ‘auction groundwork’ by doing background research, in-depth inspections, comparative valuations, etc. on these vehicles. This will really enable you to identify the autos that are worth your time to bid on, and the cars that aren’t. They golden rule is not to get emotionally exited at the auction event but rather let your actions be guided by your research work. If you follow this particular ‘blueprint’ you will purchase your next vehicle for significantly less than what you intended!
